Module 15 - Anthropocene

C an we become a collaborator with the natural world rather than one of its most dangerous antagonists? This question seems to be one that is being asked more and more frequently, not just amongst ourselves but with world leaders. In the last 3 decades, the issue of global warming and ecology has come up. In fact, it is now at a place of ranking to the level of that of our economy, unemployment, and COVID protocols. As the article pointed out, the images of stipe mining and the aftermath of human ingenuity and technology have recarved the surface of this planet we call home. Knowing that this is our only place of survival, it is no wonder that our "need" for more technology could not be used to find more eco-friendly methods of gathering these required resources to better our lives. The use of AI and supercomputers would allow us to find additional resources or supplements for these rare minerals needed to fuel our future. It was said that solar power could only assist a tin...

Module 14

Some fear that democracy is in danger. Are they right? Please write a blog post exploring one of the following two statements: Is Democracy in Danger?  YES! 2) American-style democracy is a relic of the early Modern era. It no longer satisfies the needs and desires of its citizens. As a result, voters and leaders increasingly undermine its foundations rather than bolster them. By the time we are firmly established in a “post-Modern” world, democracy will have been shown to be fatally flawed, and will have given way to new forms of government in the USA and throughout the world. Looking at the world right now, we can confidentially say; "Yes, Democracy is in Danger". The unlimited potential of the United States has been something that has always separated us from other nations, and when Americans pulled together could not be matched by our fight and drive to achieve a goal. These trying times have been pushing these limits with our economy, education, and our national mental...

Module 13 - Class taking a Pause

Module 13   This week, as America pauses to contemplate gratitude, we also pause in this class to provide an opportunity to catch up and to drill down on your Term Project. The specifics of that assignment are outlined below. Please let me know if you have questions about the assignment or would like help developing your ideas.

Module 12

begin to flesh out your ideas by writing at least 2 paragraphs in response to each question in the prompt. That prompt is copied below for your convenience, and the questions to respond to are underlined:   How has your chosen element of America’s founding world view evolved from the 1700s until today?   As time passes in the U.S. past the 1700’s, many more inventions continue to improve on our way of life. Independence of the old world takes hold and a clean slate of scholars and creators begins a history of science that continues today. Modernization begins to pick up speed in the 1800s bringing us Magnets, Light Bulbs, and Farming Combines which increased agriculture productivity. We also had medical advancements like the creation of many vaccinations  which lead to extended life expectancy and size in the new generation of Americans.  Combining all of the inventions from the 1700s–1800s, our nation's innovation took center stage as this nation grew its int...

Module 11

Are there aspects of our present world that seem to be undergoing “revolutionary” changes of world view?  Yes, the age of artificial intelligence is our new boundary that will require another paradigm shift to resolve and evolve to the next level of scientific knowledge. The cohabitation of the history of man (in the flesh) combined with the data computing power of a computer.   Paradigm shifts?   Humans have reached a summit of what we are able to do alone. This alone means that with our own ingenuity and resources, our capacity to solve the unknown answers can no longer be achieved. Another solution is required for us to continue down this path of evolution and unlocking the next stage of unknowns to help the human race continue to evolve. A merger of flesh and knowledge is required. The combination of all of human history and knowledge will be at ready for artificial intelligence to archive and retrieve possible solutions while calculating new and un...
