Module 2

Compare/Contrast the experience of the Black Death as Boccaccio describes it in the introduction with your experience of the pandemic we are living through today. Comparison Both the Black Plague and COVID have been illnesses that have made a huge mark in history. Both the Plague and COVID have changed the way people interact and live. It has distanced each and every one of us to focus on our inner selves. Reflection, insight, and self-analysis have taught both time periods to assess and determine what factors in life are most important.  Contrast Identifies today helped narrow down the transmittal of COVID as opposed to the period of the Black Plague which had no answers to the spread and what caused it. Modern medicine helped identify major factors early on for societies to make quick and drastic changes to saves lives.  In both pandemics, close proximity is one of the culprits aiding the spread but a worldwide standard health practice has helped to curb catastrophic deaths ...
W rite a blog post reflecting on “modernity.” What is it?  Modernity is a way of life using the most current technology that society has to offer. The use of new and creative ways of improving our current standard of living. To be as forward as possible in evolving in the quickest way by incorporating the best of the best our communities have to offer. Does it make sense to mark the beginning of the modern period with the European Renaissance?  Yes, during the late medieval time period in Europe, a challenge in the establishment grew.  R eflecting on yourself as an individual (a rather Modern concept)… how do you think? I am a positive and problem-solving thinker. I like to figure out alternative solutions in a simplified manner. Forecasting and finding patterns is another way that I think. Working with people allows me to scan the room, analyze, and come up with potential solutions to possible issues. How do you learn?   My personal learning style is a hands-on approach. I need to be able to visualize and "hold" an item to understand it. What I mean by that is I have to change an inanimate object and manifest them in my mind to problem solve. I know this sounds like most, but here is an example. Chemistry. Molecules can not be seen but having a visual aid or a model, allows me to problem solve it better than just doing a calculation alone. How has your adjustment to pandemic life been? My adjustment has been a positive one. I am an optimistic person and have been busy with working full time and going to...
