Leading to the election...

As we have been leading up to the elections, our nation has encountered so many hardships with a global lockdown for health reasons due to COVID, riots, racism, shootings, and the Black Lives Matters movement just to mention a few. Not only have each and every one of us has had to deal with a new way of life with our jobs, schooling, and family life but now we have to take a moment and come together as a whole, a nation, a voice to choose who our next elected leaders will be. Having countries around the world shutting down for high death tools has been a struggle and a shock, to be honest.

We all have lost... our way of life, a friend, a family member, and even strangers during these times es of trials and tribulations. We have been stripped down to our core values to address our ideals and take up arms to defend them. This coming down to the studs of a building to rebuild is what we have all had to do. Having personally lost two individuals (one in my family and a close friend) during this pandemic has been earth-shaking, to say the least. Not only think of ourselves, our family, our friends but for one another - strangers all around.

Modernity ideas have continued to fuel the actions of all people, to find a purpose, to think bigger than ourselves, and to make decisions for the greater good of our nation/civilization. Passion is what is bringing so many emotions as driving forces that will govern our decision making for elections. Taking time to express one's self, and reviewing so many options that will escape our leaders, people, and direction that this nation will make in future steps is mind-boggling.

In an article, it says, "In the midst of a pandemic that has taken more than 160,000 American lives and ravaged the nation's economy, interest in the presidential campaign ni about as high as it was in June 2016 and much higher than during the previous three elections when incumbent presidents were on the ballot" (Pew Research Center, August 13, 2020).

Stepping out of our comfort zones is what is needed at this time. Whether people are being bullied, scared and even confused when turning in early mail-in voting, voting in person to even keeping 6ft. apart, we as a people MUST be heard with our individual voices.

In an article in The Conversation, it says, "Who turns out to vote, who stays at home, and who mails or drops in a  ballot are all likely to play a significant role in the outcome of the US presidential election. Race and racism are important in motivating and suppressing voters."

It is going to take every ounce of inner monologues, reflecting inward, to joining all of our voices into a commanding decision to carry out the majority's wishes in the next few days.
